als, wenn oder wann?

English “when” has three German partners:

• wann — the question word: Wann bist du umgezogen?
• als — one time in the past: Als ich umgezogen bin, …
• wenn — repeated, or not yet happened: Wenn ich umziehe, …

The trap: wann asks the question — it doesn’t start a time clause like als and wenn.
