Beim Arzt: Überweisung, Rezept & Co.
At B1 a visit to the doctor’s is more than “Ich habe Kopfschmerzen”. You deal with referrals, prescriptions and insurance:
- die Überweisung, -en — the referral (to a specialist)
- die Untersuchung, -en — the examination
- das Rezept, -e — the prescription
- die Krankschreibung, -en — the sick note
- die Versicherung, -en — the insurance; for health: die Krankenversicherung
Trap: das Rezept is the prescription you take to the pharmacy (and also a recipe), not a receipt. A receipt is die Quittung.
Tipp
At reception (die Anmeldung) one of the first questions is often: Haben Sie Ihre Versichertenkarte dabei? In Austria the card is called die e-card.
