Durchsagen & Reiseinformationen
Announcements at the station, on the train and at the airport are everyday travel German, and a Durchsage is one of the short text types in Hören Teil 1 of the Zertifikat B1. The words that carry them:
- die Verspätung, -en — the delay: mit einer Verspätung von circa 20 Minuten
- die Gleisänderung, -en — the platform change
- der Ersatzverkehr — replacement service (often buses)
- ausfallen — to be canceled: Der Zug fällt aus.
Tipp
On boards you'll see ca., in announcements you hear circa (about). Write down numbers and platforms while you listen, and watch for change words: statt, heute, jetzt.
