während: Zeit oder Gegensatz?

während has two jobs, and B1 texts use both:

• preposition + Genitiv (during): während der Woche, während des Treffens
• conjunction + Nebensatz: at the same time (while) — während ich koche — or as a contrast (whereas): Während mein Bruder viel fliegt, fahre ich nur Zug.

A noun after it → Genitiv. A subject and a verb after it → verb at the end.
