Passiv bilden

To build it yourself: the object of the active sentence becomes the subject, werden is conjugated, and the Partizip II goes to the end:

• Der Hausmeister repariert die Heizung. → Die Heizung wird repariert.
• Die Maler streichen das Treppenhaus. → Das Treppenhaus wird gestrichen.

Trap: verbs in -ieren take no ge- (repariert), and separable verbs put ge- in the middle (abgeholt).
