Unit 03 · Arbeit & Beruf

Work is a core B1 theme: job ads in Lesen, phone messages in Hören, polite requests whenever you speak. Unit 3 takes you from the Stellenanzeige through the interview to your first week in the office.

• reading job ads: Vollzeit, befristet, das Gehalt, the Bewerbungsunterlagen
• Konjunktiv II for polite requests, wishes and unreal conditions: hätte, wäre, würde, könnte
• Infinitiv mit zu, um … zu, damit, ohne … zu and (an)statt … zu
• the job interview and everyday office German
• Adjektivdeklination as one complete system

Checkpoint: the last lesson practices Lesen Teil 3 (matching Anzeigen to Situationen) and Hören Teil 1 (five short texts) of the Goethe-Zertifikat B1 and the ÖSD Zertifikat B1 (ZB1).
