darauf oder auf sie? Sachen & Personen

da- and wo-compounds are for things and ideas. For people, you keep the preposition and use a pronoun, or wen/wem in a question:

• thing: Ich warte auf den Bus. → Ich warte darauf. / Worauf wartest du?
• person: Ich warte auf meine Ärztin. → Ich warte auf sie. / Auf wen wartest du?

Trap: darauf doesn’t stand for a person.
