würde oder hätte/wäre?

Which form goes where?

• with haben and sein, the usual form is the short one: Ich hätte gern …, Das wäre super.
• the modal verbs too: ich könnte, ich müsste
• most other verbs: würde + Infinitiv: Ich würde gern im Ausland arbeiten.

Trap: würde needs an infinitive at the end of the sentence. On its own it doesn’t work: Ich würde gern einen Job … has no verb.
