Medien im Alltag
Media is a core B1 theme: in Lesen texts, in Hören and in your Schreiben forum post. Learn the key nouns with article and plural:
- die Nachricht, -en (the message, the news item)
- der Beitrag, die Beiträge (the post, the contribution, the report)
- die Sendung, -en (the TV or radio program)
- die Werbung (advertising — normally singular)
- die Zeitung, -en (the newspaper)
Trap: in the plural, die Nachrichten is also “the news” on TV: Ich sehe jeden Abend die Nachrichten.
Tip
das Handy (plural die Handys) is the everyday German word for a cell phone. It looks English, but English speakers don't use it. das Smartphone, -s is just as common.
