Zeugnis, Noten & Praktikum

At the end of the school year you get das Zeugnis, -se (the report card) with your grades, die Note, -n. The usual school scale depends on the country:

• Germany: 1 (sehr gut) to 6 (ungenügend)
• Austria: 1 (sehr gut) to 5 (nicht genügend)
• Switzerland: the other way around, 6 is the best grade

Many students also do ein Praktikum (an internship); the plural is die Praktika.
